I had barely been aware of this film until I saw the trailer today. Wow, this looks good!

From what I can tell, it’s a semi-remake of the original with modern effects, taking Godzilla back to his origins as a post-war embodiment of the atom bomb and the general devastation Japan suffered. I note at least a couple moments – e.g. him biting down on the train – that seem to be directly recreated from the first film, and they’ve returned to the original, somewhat more distorted, lower-pitched roar as well.

Personally, I think this looks awesome: a refreshing return to form for Godzilla as an unstoppable force of nature. Hoping it gets a US release!
