Vintage Tribute by the Decade

I found these excellent video tributes to pop culture by the decade.

I would say they tend to draw too much from the same sources (e.g. the 1980s one has about ten clips each from Aliens and The Breakfast Club and not one from Nightmare on Elm Street or Return to Oz), but the editing and the way they time the clips to the music is fantastic.

1950s

Someone in the comments: “The talent required to be ‘in the movies’ back then would be unthinkable today”

(By the way, the clips of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis always bring a lump to my throat, since it makes me remember an interview with Lewis near the end of his life where, to the question what he missed most about his career, answered “When my partner was alive.”)

1960s

Way too much MLK in this one…and I realize that’s a sentence that’ll probable get me on a list somewhere.

1970s

Not really anything to say; it’s the 70s, so, you should know what to expect.

1980s

This one was originally the final part of an hour-long tribute to the 80s, which is also very worth watching if you have time (also helps excuse the omissions).

1990s

Not quite the same style as the others, but still pretty solid
