“You’ll Never Guess Who Shows Up to Save the Day”

I generally have very little interest in contemporary AAA games, especially not involving post-Lucas Star Wars. But by all accounts, and from the playthroughs I’ve seen, Star Wars: Outlaws is embarrassingly awful: not only horribly written (the main character has a gratingly annoying voice of constant pauses, hesitations, and a tone of “I am trying to convince the audience that I am lying” any time she tries to fast-talk someone), but full of glitches, boring gameplay, etc.

Anyway, I watched most of Mauler’s playthrough of it, which climaxes in a moment that is too funny not to share.

Now, one feature of the game is that you can ally with different underworld gangs (though this seems to have very little impact on the story and doesn’t change anything about how the game proceeds). At the very end, the main characters are trying to fight a Star Destroyer to save the Rebels, and the gang you have the best rating with will show up to help (by the way, apparently if you manage to tank your reputation with all of them, the game will break because the developers didn’t account for anyone doing that).

The result is that the hero of the hour, who saves the day and the Rebellion, turns out to be…well, take a look (clip should be pulled up to the correct time code of about 5:32:32).
